The County Highways Laboratory is part of Engineering Services within the Highways Department of Hampshire County Council. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking authority, delivering a wide range of high-quality testing services to the council, other public authorities, and private sector clients.
Based in Micheldever, the County Highways Laboratory is equipped to perform over 50 specialised laboratory and site tests on construction materials, including asphalt, aggregates, soil, and concrete. This ensures that materials used on our highway network are compliant and safe. We are also UKAS accredited, guaranteeing the highest level of quality and reliability in our testing services.

We are seeking someone who is highly detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
You will be confident in making decisions within defined procedures, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate a collaborative, professional, and customer-focused approach. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to specialised LIMS systems, is also required.
While prior technical knowledge is not essential, a willingness to learn technical data, terminology, and processes is important.
The ideal candidate will be organised, efficient, and have a strong eye for detail. You will also need to be able to work collaboratively as part of a friendly, enthusiastic, and diverse team.
